This monochrome edition of the Nike Air Tailwind 79 Shoes have been designed to look as close to the original model as possible which debuted during the Honolulu Marathon in 1978. The uppers are made from smooth nylon whilst black suede overlays around the front of the toes, heel and along the laces border strengthens those key areas whilst adding additional texture. Contrasting white leather Swoosh ticks have been added on either side of the foot for distinctive branding, the Swoosh can also be seen on a woven label that wraps around the top edge of the padded exposed foam tongue. Throughout the inside a mesh fabric lining has been added for comfort and breathability and a Nike Air unit has been added within the heel for impact support. A key feature of the Tailwind 79, the rubber waffle tread pattern continues up the front of the toes and on the heel for quality grip.
Re-released in October 2018, the Nike Air Tailwind 79 model has made a triumphant comeback in a variety of colourways thanks to a focus on quality and accuracy when it comes to material choices and aesthetics. First released in 1978, the Tailwind 79 is famous for its waffle tread pattern and for being the first shoe to be worn by an athlete who won gold at an Olympic event.
